AI SmartArt generator that gives you real, editable SmartArt
NativeDiagram is an AI SmartArt generator that works inside the AI assistant you already use. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, describe the diagram, and download a Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) file containing native Microsoft SmartArt — not an image — so you can keep editing text, layout and colors in Office.
What "native SmartArt" means (and why most AI diagrams aren't)
A screenshot is fixed pixels. Grouped shapes can be moved and edited one by one, but they do not have SmartArt controls. Native Microsoft SmartArt keeps the diagram's structure: open the Text pane to revise content, switch layouts, and apply Office theme colors in Word or PowerPoint.
How it works
1. Connect
Follow a setup guide for your AI assistant and sign in.
2. Ask
Try: “Turn this rollout plan into a process diagram.”
3. Edit in Office
Download the .docx and .pptx, then revise the SmartArt in Word or PowerPoint.
SmartArt layouts you can generate
Choose a structure that fits your content: processes with 3–9 steps; lists with 4, 6 or 7 items; timelines with 4–5 milestones; four-stage cycles; two-level org charts; hierarchies; relationships; and radial diagrams. Layouts have fixed item counts, and short labels fit best. Ask your assistant to trim or split content when a layout is too crowded.
Works with assistants you already use
Connect Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or another MCP client. Grok works through the xAI API with an API key. See the setup guides for the steps each client needs.
From one diagram to a full report or deck
Start with a single SmartArt diagram. If your assistant has document or presentation tools, the optional SmartArt skill can guide it to choose layouts and place diagrams in a wider report or deck. The available workflow depends on the tools in your assistant. Learn how to connect and add the skill.
Pricing in one line
One successful diagram uses one credit; failed renders are free. The Free plan includes 30 credits each month. See pricing.
Limitations
SmartArt editing is a Microsoft Office feature. Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice may display the diagram as shapes or an image. The browser preview is approximate; open the downloaded file in Word or PowerPoint to see and edit the result.
FAQ
Can AI create SmartArt in PowerPoint?
Yes. With NativeDiagram connected, your AI assistant can produce native SmartArt in a .pptx (and a .docx). You open the file in PowerPoint and edit it like any SmartArt you inserted yourself.
Is the SmartArt really editable, or is it an image?
It is native Microsoft Office SmartArt, not a screenshot or grouped shapes. You can edit text, change the layout and recolor it in Word or PowerPoint on Windows, Mac and the web.
Which AI assistants can I use?
Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini and any MCP client. Grok works through the xAI API with an API key. Setup steps are on the setup guide.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 30 credits per month. One successful diagram uses one credit, and failed renders are free.
Does it work in Google Slides or Google Docs?
The files open, but SmartArt is a Microsoft Office feature, so Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice may show the diagram as plain shapes or an image instead of editable SmartArt.
Is NativeDiagram a standalone diagram editor?
No. You create diagrams by asking your AI assistant, then edit the result in Word or PowerPoint.
